LabelSieveAI ("LabelSieveAI," "we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains, plainly and specifically, what information the app handles, how it's used, how long it's kept, and the choices available to you when using the LabelSieveAI mobile application and any related services (together, the "Service").
By downloading, installing, or otherwise using LabelSieveAI, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.
This Privacy Policy applies to your use of the LabelSieveAI mobile application and any related websites or communications that link to this Policy. It does not apply to third-party websites, applications, or services we do not own or control, even if accessed through a link within LabelSieveAI.
LabelSieveAI does not use accounts, sign-in, or registration of any kind. Instead, the first time you open the app, it generates a random, anonymous identifier (a UUID) with no connection to your name, email, or any other personal information. This identifier is stored securely in your device's iOS Keychain.
If you have iCloud Keychain enabled on your device (Settings → your name → iCloud → Keychain), this identifier automatically and securely syncs across your own devices through Apple's own infrastructure — allowing your Recent Scans, Favorites, Quality Rating, and Premium subscription status to follow you to another of your devices without ever requiring you to register, sign in, or share any personal information with us. This synchronization is handled entirely by Apple; LabelSieveAI's servers are never involved in it and never see any information about your Apple ID or iCloud account.
If iCloud Keychain is not enabled, this identifier simply stays local to that one device, and a new, separate identifier will be generated if you use LabelSieveAI on a different device.
LabelSieveAI does not collect your name, email address, phone number, physical address, or any government-issued identifier. We do not require or support account registration of any kind.
When you scan a barcode, upload an ingredient label, take a photo of a label, or manually search for a food product or category, we may process:

Camera and photo library access are requested only when you actively choose to scan or upload an image, and only after you grant permission through your device's system settings.
If you purchase LabelSieveAI Premium, your payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We use RevenueCat, a subscription management platform, to receive limited, non-financial information about your subscription status — associated only with your device's anonymous identifier, never with your name or Apple ID directly — so that we can unlock Premium features.
LabelSieveAI never receives, processes, or stores your credit card number, payment information, or Apple ID. That information is handled exclusively by Apple.
We may automatically receive limited technical information necessary to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the Service, including device type and operating system version, application version, basic request metadata (such as timestamps) used for rate-limiting and abuse prevention, and IP address as incidentally logged by our hosting infrastructure for security purposes.
LabelSieveAI requests camera access to let you scan barcodes and photograph ingredient labels. Camera access is active only while you are actively using a scanning feature, and only after you grant permission through your device's system settings. LabelSieveAI never accesses your camera in the background.
LabelSieveAI requests photo library access only when you choose to upload an existing photo instead of using the live camera. This permission lets you select an individual image; LabelSieveAI does not browse or index your photo library beyond the specific image you select.

LabelSieveAI uses third-party AI providers to analyze ingredient information and generate the explanations, scores, and recommendations you see in the app. Specifically:
The information sent to these providers is limited to the ingredient text, product name, and food category you are analyzing. We never transmit your device identifier, payment information, or any personal information to these AI providers.
AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or entirely fabricated information. LabelSieveAI does not independently verify every AI-generated statement. LabelSieveAI does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment of any kind.

When you scan a barcode, LabelSieveAI queries the Open Food Facts database, a free and publicly maintained product database, to retrieve the product name, brand, and ingredient list associated with that barcode. This query contains only the barcode number itself — no information that could identify you. Because Open Food Facts is community-maintained, product information may occasionally be incomplete, outdated, or inaccurate.
LabelSieveAI does not sell, rent, or trade information. We only share information as necessary to:
Your Recent Scans, Favorites, and Quality Rating live entirely on your device's local storage — we do not retain a server-side copy of this information at all. Subscription status and daily usage counters, tied only to your device's anonymous identifier, are retained on our servers for as long as needed to provide the Service, and are automatically cleaned up after a period of inactivity.
Cached ingredient analysis results (used to avoid re-analyzing the same barcode repeatedly) are stored independently of any individual device and are not linked to your identifier.
Because there is no account or personal information tied to your use of LabelSieveAI, there is no traditional "delete my account" request to make — there is no personal data on our servers identifying you to delete.
You remain in full control of your data at all times:
We use reasonable technical measures to protect information, including encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections between the app and our servers, and access controls limiting which systems can read or write stored data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
To keep the Service sustainable, LabelSieveAI limits how many AI-powered scans and alternative-product searches can be performed per day, tracked against your device's anonymous identifier. Free tier and Premium tier receive different daily limits. This counter is used solely for rate limiting and abuse prevention.
LabelSieveAI is not directed to, and is not intended for use by, children under the age of 13. Because the app collects no personal information from any user, there is inherently no personal information collected from children either. LabelSieveAI does not collect personal information as defined under the CCPA/CPRA in the ordinary course of operating the Service, and does not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Because LabelSieveAI does not collect personal information tied to your identity, most data-subject rights under state privacy laws (Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and others) do not apply in the traditional sense, as there is no personal profile to access, correct, or delete. If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, and believe any information processed by LabelSieveAI qualifies as personal data under GDPR or UK GDPR, you may contact us at lablesieveai@gmail.com to ask questions or raise concerns. Given the anonymous, non-account-based nature of the Service, we hold very limited information capable of being linked back to any individual.
LabelSieveAI may be used by individuals outside the United States. Any information processed by the Service (such as anonymized usage counters tied to a device identifier) may be processed and stored in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.
LabelSieveAI processes food and ingredient information you actively submit. This information is used only to provide the features you request and is never used to build a medical profile or provide healthcare services.
LabelSieveAI is not an allergy detection tool, an allergen scanner, or a food safety verification system. It does not detect allergens or cross-contact risk. If you or anyone you are purchasing food for has a food allergy, always read the physical product packaging and rely on the manufacturer's official allergen statement — never on LabelSieveAI.
LabelSieveAI's scores and explanations are informational only and are not a substitute for professional medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional regarding any specific dietary or health question.
LabelSieveAI does not use browser cookies and does not use third-party advertising or cross-app tracking technologies to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Your selected visual theme is stored locally on your device (and, via iCloud Keychain sync, may be available on your other devices), so your preference is remembered. Theme selection has no effect on scan results or the accuracy of AI-generated content. Some themes are exclusive to Premium subscribers.
LabelSieveAI depends on our backend server and third-party AI providers for certain features. If any of these services experience downtime, AI-powered analysis may be temporarily unavailable, while locally stored Recent Scans and Favorites remain accessible.
LabelSieveAI does not guarantee any particular health outcome, weight loss, or improvement in any medical condition from your use of the Service. Any suggestion that a product is "healthier" or "cleaner" reflects an automated, AI-assisted assessment — not a personalized medical or nutritional recommendation.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the Effective Date above and make the revised policy available within the app. Continuing to use LabelSieveAI after a revised Privacy Policy takes effect means you accept the changes.
